Why become a Member?

PTA connects families and schools. By joining the PTA you show your children that school matters, and that you are invested in their success. Three decades of research proves that students achieve higher grades, have better attendance and more consistently complete homework when parents are involved – and just the act of joining PTA is a great way to get involved. PTA helps ensure that parents have a seat at the table when important decisions that affect schools are made. PTA works together to improve the education, health and safety of all children.

How do I become a member and/or renew my annual PTA membership? 

Complete the attached PTA Membership envelope and turn it into the school office or to your child’s teacher.

What is required to become a member?

Nothing - other than completing the membership form & paying the minimum dues of $10.

Do I have to attend PTA Unit Meetings? 

No, however, if you would like to attend our PTA Unit meetings via Zoom, we will meet on August 31st, November 16th, March 21st and April 25th at 7:00pm via Zoom.

Do I have to Volunteer? 

No, but if you would like to, we have several opportunities in which you can. Whether it’s helping with concessions and handing out popcorn at a Family Movie Nights or helping plan our Fall Harvest Festival, big or small, we have the right size volunteer opportunity for you!

Do I have to attend PTA sponsored events? 

No. We understand in today’s world that we all have busy schedules - so come to the events that make sense for your family’s schedule. I want to help, but I can’t volunteer or attend meetings.

Can I make a donation to the PTA? 

Yes, you can make a direct donation to the PTA anytime and turn it into the school office. You can also include the donation when paying your membership dues. The PTA is a 501c3 non profit charity so donations are tax deductible. Please contact us if you need a receipt of donation or download it from the online portal. Your membership and donations make the activities of the PTA possible.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

If I don’t attend meetings, events or volunteer, why become a PTA member? 

No matter your level of participation, your membership is still valuable. Whether it’s participation at an event/meeting or simply the membership dues you paid - all these things allow your PTA to enrich our children’s experience at school. PTA speaks out for all children at many levels; both locally and nationally.

Buri Buri would not be the amazing community it is without the help and support of our parent volunteers. We appreciate all of the time and effort you put into making our school great!

Here are some ways you can help out:

• Be supportive of your child's school experience. Get to school on time, help with homework, and be supportive of class projects, field trips, and events. 

• Get to know other parents from your children's classes. We're going to be together for the next six years or more, so let's be friends!

• Get fingerprinted and Volunteering so you will be able to volunteer for field trips and in-class activities. 

• Join the PTA! Attend meetings if possible and share your ideas with the board. Anyone can be a member of the PTA, including teachers, grandparents, older siblings, aunts and uncles, and family friends. 

• Come to school events like the carnival, talent show, field trips, class presentations, and so on.

• Support fundraising campaigns or make a direct donation to the PTA or school. All donations are tax deductible. Contact the PTA for details or to receive a donation letter. Reach us at buriburipta (at) gmail.com.

• Volunteer to be a Room Rep. Room Reps work with the teacher to share information about specific class events and needs with parents. 

• Volunteer at a PTA event: we always need help with our events. You can sell food at a movie night or run a carnival booth. Hand out programs at the talent show or design handouts for events. We never turn down a volunteer offer so if you have time, we have a job! 

• Volunteer for a position on the PTA board. There are lots of jobs that take a little time or a lot of time. All are welcome to be part of the board. Check here for job descriptions.
